The Town Municipal Council (TMC) Chittapur was constituted in 1952. It is situated on main Railway la from Hyderabad to Mumbai. Chittapur town located at a distance of 50KM from Gulbarga district and is famous for Pollished Stones & Toor Daal. It has a population of 29,674 as per census 2001. The TMC has 23 wards and equal number of councilors. Chittapur TMC stretches to an area of 17.45 SqKms. Chittapur town has its own historic background of "Nagavelambika Temple" and "Hajarat Chittavali shaha Darga". The town has the famous for ancient Univercity called "Nagavi Univercity" which is situated at Southern part of the Chittapur Town. The main part of this "Nagavelambika Temple is 60 Pole Temple" (60 Khamba Gudi) and "Nandi Bhavi". Also there are small Temples & mosques catering to the religious needs of different Communications.
Computerisation : The Properties within TMC limits have been identified & details have been collected & Computerisation of records is under progress. Citizens can avail this facility to pay property tax shortly. Birth & Death records are available online from the year 1990. Citizens can make use of this facility to register & obtain Birth & Death Certificates.
